The response viewer

Moving through the response tree with the keyboard, filtering with JSONPath, and switching between Table, Pretty and Raw. Narrated, with sound. The dark and light versions follow the site's theme.

Every JSON response opens in the same viewer: a client run, a Traffic operation’s Response, and a WebSocket message’s payload.

  • Tree. A virtualized, keyboard-driven tree: arrow keys move, Home/End jump, Enter/Space expand or collapse. It opens to depth 2. Expand all stops at 50,000 rows, with a note.
  • Pretty. Indented JSON in a read-only code view with fold arrows.
  • Raw. Compact, single-line JSON.
  • Table. Arrays of objects as a spreadsheet-style grid. Array picks among every array of objects in the response. Clicking a nested cell opens it in Tree at that path.

The view you pick is remembered per surface for the session.

Type an expression such as $.data.users[*].name or $..id. It runs without eval, so it works inside the extension’s pages.

  • Matches shows only the matched values.
  • Highlight keeps the whole response, tints every match and steps through them with ↑/↓ and an n / total counter.

More than 10,000 matches shows the first 10,000, with a note.

On a Tree row, select it and press c to copy its value or Shift + C to copy its JSONPath. Copy in the toolbar copies the whole shown value as JSON.

GraphQL errors show in a strip above the body, each linking to its data path. Click one to jump to that node, which is tinted in the tree and shows the message on hover.

In Settings → Response → Response viewer layout:

  • Inline actions (default): Copy value and Copy path buttons appear on the hovered row.
  • Inspector panel: a side region shows the selected node’s full value, path and, for an image or link, a preview or Open ↗.

With Load image previews automatically off (the default), an image loads only when you hover or select its row, or click Open ↗, never just because the response is open. Turning it on fetches every image row’s thumbnail as soon as it renders, which contacts each image’s host. Image URL prefix resolves relative image paths against an absolute http(s) URL.
